K Cancer Baseball & Softball started when a group of teenage athletes wanted to do more after the 27th out.

K Cancer Baseball & Softball seeks to provide support to patients and families during and even after treatment. We also offer support and events specifically for parents. From gas cards and medical expenses to hosting a fun event for everyone, K Cancer helps with many different aspects of the journey. Back in 2014, a U13 baseball team and their families asked themselves "What kind of team do we want to be?" They wanted to bring the support they felt within the team outside to others in need. Several months of hard work later, that baseball team formed KCancer, with the goal to support families affected by childhood cancer.

Currently, K Cancer Baseball & Softball supports 40 local families by providing services that range from gifting gas cards to organizing memorials. The players of the original baseball team are now collegiate leaders within their own communities. Now, KCancer is led by a travel youth softball team who competes in tournaments throughout the Midwest helping raise funds and awareness for the non-profit.

WE PROVIDE

Care Packages

Care packages have toys for the patient & their siblings, K Cancer Baseball hats & shirts, and something to help the family (gas cards, parking vouchers). There are so many variables to each situation that the needs, and therefore the Care Packages, vary from family to family.

Family Visits

The players deliver the care packages to the patient and their siblings, while the coaches provide gas and restaurant gift cards to the parents as a way of saying, “we understand some of the challenges you are facing”.

Ongoing Support

We know that the issues childhood cancer families face does not end when Chemotherapy stops. Our goal is to stay in touch with the family through the entire cancer journey and to provide help and support when it is needed.
